Cajas Tips
The weather is very unpredictable in Cajas, sunshine one minute and sudden mist or rain. We suggest to consider the following tips:
1. Dress Comfortably and layered clothing: t-shirt, sweater or jacket and rain coat. (Rain season is March and April)
2. Bottle of water and snack (Keep in mind that we will have luch usually around 2pm)
3. Hiking shoes or confortable shoes for walking
4. Hat (for sun protection and warmth)
5. Sunscreen
6. Sunglasses

What to expect

El Cajas National Park

We start the tour with a hike through the ecosystem of primary Montane forest or cloud forest. Afterwards, we will visit the dividing inland waterway and, finally we will take an amazing walk in the highlands through the moorland ecosystem of wetlands and lakes to get to the unique forest of Polylepis trees. These are the highest growing trees in the world and are native to South America.
Before returning to Cuenca, we will have lunch at a traditional restaurant of the area.
